Rochester Community School Corporation
On behalf of the Rochester Community School System, I would like to thank each of you for your support
during a very difficult time for our district, community and nation as a whole. Covid has brought challenges for
each of us and that holds true for our district as well. I am thankful for our faculty and staff and their hard work to
continue to support students at every level.
As we enter a new year, my gratitude goes much deeper than what our faculty and staff are doing to provide
for not only the best education for our students but their safety as well. I am thankful for the support of our parents
and their willingness to follow safety protocols. For those parents/guardians who have had to attend a ‘zoom’
conference with teachers and administrators, thank you for supporting your child’s education. To the parents of our
fine arts students, thank you for following guidelines when concerts are in person; and, when we couldn’t safely
have you in the district, thank you for supporting our virtual concerts. Parents of student athletes, thank you for
wearing your masks and socially distancing both at home and away venues. Each and every one of you continues to
lead by example. Thank you!
A special thank you to Rochester Telephone Company for helping to live stream all events so parents and
family members are able to watch their student participate in the various activities throughout our district. WROI
has been a tremendous media resource in helping us relay information, thank you. And to our friends at the
Rochester Sentinel and Shopping Guide News, thank you for continuing to support Rochester Community Schools.
To our local health department, your help with contact tracing, answering our questions at nearly every
hour of the day and evaluation of our re-entry plans continues to help us safe guard all who are in the district. Thank
you!
We speak often in our district about it “taking a village to raise a child”; now more than ever we realize
how true that is. Thank you!
My desire, as I am sure it is yours as well, is to return to as normal an environment as possible. But until
then, your support and efforts do not go unnoticed!
Respectfully,
Jana K. Vance, Ed.S

As of 12/3/20, the Fulton County Health Department has approved the new CDC recommendations for quarantine as they pertain to close contact to an individual who is positive for Covid.
If a student or staff member of Rochester Schools is identified as a close contact to a positive person, they have 2 options for quarantine time:
- They may quarantine for 10 days from their exposure date to a positive person and come back to school/work without being tested.
OR
- They may quarantine for 7 days from their exposure date to a positive person and come back to school with a negative test result. The test cannot be taken before day 5 of quarantine and the individual must remain in quarantine through the 7 days.
Please note that the school does have to have verification of a negative test for the student or staff to return to school.
Per the Fulton County Health Department, members living in the same household as a person positive for COVID-19 cannot properly isolate. Therefore, students or staff in the same household as a person positive for COVID-19 OR a person quarantining with symptoms but not tested will need to quarantine at home for 20 days.

We know that Covid puts extra stressors on all and we are all feeling the exhaustion of the pandemic. Please continue to work to safeguard your student and family as well as our district and community by:
--Do not send your student to school if they are feeling ill or have a fever
--Follow safety protocols by social distancing and wearing masks
--Wash hands often
--Adhere to basic personal hygiene
If we can assist you or your family, please be sure to reach out to your building principal or school nurse.
Thank you in advance for your patience and support.
